My experience using homework videos over the past 4 years have highlighted many advantages of this new take on homework. For instance, HW videos:
In addition, the HW quizzes help students focus on the main goal: to learn from the HW
- provide immediate feedback to students
- put the onus of learning on the student
- are a vital source of help to students when they "get stuck"
- virtually eliminate the need to go over the homework answers in class, thus saving valuable class time
- enable students to learn from their teacher at a time of their choosing, when student focus is likely to be highest
- enable students to pause, rewind, and rewatch sections if necessary
- de-incentivizes copying of the homework from another student
- are a tool for parents who want to help their children
