I think this guy has very much misconstrued my motivation behind making this T-shirt. But hey, a sale is a sale…

I figured this is appropriate with graduation happening today. I was one of the last people in the high school on the last day of school 3 years ago(the end of the freshmen year for those graduating tonight). I took this photo outside my old room (now Grigg's room) in an eerily darkened hallway .
I haven't seen this photo since then until it popped up in my memories on FB this week. I thought it would work well on the "liminal spaces" photo group on FB. I've thought about posting some of my photos to photo groups in the past but never did, mainly because I didn't want them to get 3 measly likes and be basically ignored. Everyone will always tell you to power through failures and dissappointments (myself included - and I mean it!) but honestly, it's tiring to see things you believe in continually fall flat. It wears on you. Despite this, I posted it to liminal space anyway and immediately didn't think much of it. 3 hours later I got a notification that it had a whole bunch of likes and a handful of positive comments. I wanted to share it here because it's Chatham related, but now with it being graduation day maybe there's a message here about pushing on? You'll have to decide for yourself. The ELL students I've had as students over the course of my career have been very nice, respectful and hard working - I've always rooted for them. But they fall through the cracks in the world of public education, so I've focused my attention ways to help ELL kids. One way has been promoting the use of the YouTube translation feature. But YouTube would only translate as subtitles - a problem for students who don't read their own langauge fluently. A new YouTube feature is audio translations, which is really cool. I've been waiting years for this feature, so this is exciting. Here's a sample video. Lion sent me this today. Definitely made me smile. Right on Winni!
Big thanks to Lion for sending it. A quick overnight in Syracuse
