Avett Brothers at Red Rocks.

If “seeing a show at Red Rocks” isn’t on your bucket list, it needs to be. Like, seriously. An amazing place.

Again, such an amazing place. Not for the stair-averse, but still amazing.

The Avetts were great. They play a 3 show run at Red Rocks every year and it’s a big deal, people travel from all over. We had tickets for all 4 of us to see them in 2020, but Covid happened. The tix were transferred to 2021 but we couldn’t go. So Mrs. G and I were psyched to finally make it.

You know, the last thing a 17 year old boy wants to do is hang out with his parents all day for 6 days. But Danny was a good sport about it and maintained a good attitude (while maintaining his commitment to monosyllabic conversation)

Strings Music Festival is this cool venue just a short walk from our Airbnb condo. Cool space, incredibly chill vibes (leaning toward the upscale end of the spectrum, which I generally don’t love in a music venue, but this place is great. )

Steamboat Springs. Our Airbnb here is a ski condo. Very different from where we stayed in Buena Vista, but it’s good in a different way. When we arrived back from dinner, I heard live music coming from the main Lodge building. Always wanting to catch some live music, I headed up there. I was just following the source of the sound which led me to some weird dead ends within the sprawling main building. I finally made my way outside to the large pool side area. I thought it would be a “Thursday night live music“ series the ski mountain puts on. I quickly realized it was some sort of private event. I went into “act cool and do your best to fit in” mode. Before I even had a chance to survey the scene I heard the lead singer announce “Thanks to Superior Livestock for having us!” Then I noticed the sea of cowboy hats and comically large belt buckles. And here I am wearing shorts, a t-shirt with an obscure Phish reference and a Thrasher baseball hat. Shit, I have a plastic belt buckle for christsakes (not proud of that fact.). This “fitting in” isn’t gonna be easy… The band’s next song was The Devil Went Down to Georgia. While I very much did not want to hear this song, I have to give credit to the band for their reading-the-crowd skills. I ended up talking to the photo booth guy for 10 minutes. Of course I did...

I love a cozy/quirky Airbnb walking distance to town. Front porch was a great spot to enjoy morning coffee and evening chill time.

2nd stop, the Safeway in Frisco. Soemhow we alwasy end up at this particular Safeway when we're in CO. There's something comforting about that.

The motel attached to the hot springs is… kinda weird. Glad we’re not staying here. The common area has a heavy “middle-aged midwestern woman in the mid 1980s” vibe. Yikes.
